Allergy – the number one environmental illness

Allergies are more than just a runny nose. In environmental medicine practice, allergy is the first environment-friendly disease or disorder. Yet many people do not realize how many different problems can develop due to allergy.

The concept of allergy was first introduced by Dr. Von Pirquet in 1904 and defined it as "all changed reaction to one substance". This determination of allergy was generally accepted by 1967 when Dr. Ishizaka isolated the immunoglobulin E in the blood of a person and identified this protein as a specific marker to identify allergic reactions.

By identifying the only physiological device for allergy mediation, allergy was only applied to immunoglobulin E (IgE) mediated reactions.

However, Ishizaka's new definition of allergy is reflected in the fact that most physicians can not recognize that people are able to respond to many things that are not IgE mediated. Classical allergies – allergic rhinitis, asthma and eczema – are the main causes of inhaling allergens such as pollen, dust, shapes and tides (typically mediated by IgE), and it is useful to reduce allergic load through avoidance or allergic extracts.

However, sensitivity to food and chemicals is often not mediated by IgE, and thus lacked a diagnosis. In our 29-year experience in the professional and environmental center of medicine, it has been found that chronic symptoms and illnesses are often caused by food and chemical allergens. Reactions to these materials may be mediated by immunoglobulin G (IgG) or other immunoglobulins or may occur as a reaction within the gastrointestinal tract.

Based on our experience in thousands of patients, Centrum uses the term "food and chemical sensitivity" as "food and chemical allergy", knowing that humans react when the mechanism is not mediated by IgE. We have found that common causes of headache often (but not always) are susceptible to sugar cane, corn, cola, chocolate and / or citrus, and common causes of arthritic pain include beef, pork, apple, soybeans, coffee and solanin-containing foods – tomatoes, potatoes, aubergines and peppers. The mechanism of these reactions is obviously not IgE mediation. To further complicate things, each person is unique and the trigger for these disorders and other pain syndromes is very unique.

Most doctors practicing Environmental Medicine are of the opinion that if you only have one chronic sign and symptom with only one activity, it would be an elimination diet that would be followed by a patient dilemma challenge testing. The use of hypo-sensitizing and neutralizing techniques may be advantageous to overcome the cross-activity of the various organisms and thus to treat autoimmune diseases. Hopefully, this article has proved that "allergy" is more than a dripping nose and this may have many causes for symptoms and symptoms.
