Blepharoplasty – Eyelid surgery to improve vision

Our eyes are one of the most important senses of the elderly population. Good vision allows them independence and freedom to conduct activities and meetings, reading, sewing, puzzles, or television. If vision deteriorates with age, they still have their independence. Not all vision loss is inevitable, and the procedure called blepharoplasty can help.

Skin around the eye is the most delicate and naturally thin. As we age, this skin is stretched and the muscles of the eye weaken. This process takes place slowly and does not affect everyday life. For others, the situation is more serious. Eyelid scarring can endanger vision by up to 50% or more. Some patients with blepharoplasty claim that their eyelids felt severe before their eyelid surgery and felt tired even after eight or more sleeps. Many have never noticed that their vision was endangered until an eye examination has been carried out.

If the above shows how you feel in these days, sometimes it's time to meet a cosmetic surgeon and see if blepharoplasty can help you regain the full spectrum of your vision and help you live and watch it refreshed.

Eyelid surgery removes excess fat, skin and muscles around the eye. Designed to improve the falling top cover and the spacious cover. Most vision problems occur when the top covers descend into the field of vision.

Blepharoplasty does not remove lines or wrinkles and does not improve dark circles under the eyes. If the line and wrinkles cause concern, then the cosmetic surgeon can talk to you about other bleeding procedures along with blepharoplasty.

Eyelid procedure lasts for one to two hours and is usually performed by local anesthesia with IV sedation. If you are particularly nervous about local anesthesia, you can discuss with your surgeon the options for general anesthesia.

After administration of anesthesia, the surgeon will make small cuts in the crease of the eyelids and remove excess skin and fat. The goal is to create natural looking eyelids and restore the entire field of vision. The incisions are small enough for no one to notice the intersection after the healing is completed.

After the procedure, you'll be sleepy with anesthesia and you'll need someone to take home and stay with you the first night. Restoration is a gradual process, but most people feel good enough to continue normal activities within seven or ten days. With the benefit of better vision patients felt eyelid fresh and younger.

If you consider eyelid surgery necessary to restore vision, Medicare and most insurance companies will cover the cost of the procedure. However, if you decide to perform other cosmetic procedures at the same time, such as a pickup or a lift, you are solely responsible for the cost.
